When I work with someone or even just having a deep conversation with someone, I can be surprised by the information coming through me from the Teams. Such was the case recently when a friend and I were deep in conversation. We both received a quick lesson on the energetic differences between “power” and “empower”.

Energetically, the word “power” (or powerful) strokes the ego, whereas “empower” strengthens and lights the soul.

Later I grabbed my tablet and searched the definition of both.

Power Verses Empower

Power = possession of control, authority, or influence over others. (Merriam-Webster.com)

Empower = make someone stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and their rights.

The definition seems to support the team’s energetic explanation of the two words.

So next I sat and felt the two words. I said “power” and sat with the energy it produced. I followed this with saying “empower” and sat with it. I was surprised at how I could strongly feel the effect each word had on me and my energy.

A Challenge

For this week, I ask you to sit and feel the difference between “power” and “empower”.

Then I challenge you to drop the the old way of using the words “power” and “powerful” from your vocabulary and begin a new way by seeking ways to use “empower” and “empowerment”.

Let’s stop stroking egos and giving our energy over to others and begin to strengthen our energy and capabilities as well as empowering others to do the same.
