Though miles may separate us
The bond never broke.
Over the years, I have felt your tears
And cried with you.
I held you when you were
Wracked with misery.
I stood beside you through
Your confusion.
I felt your loneliness,
Fears and your pain.
My heart clenched
With your anguish.
And rejoiced when you began
Removing the chains.
I cheered as you tested
Your wings once again.
I never left you and
Have talked to you daily.
My soul soared with joy
When your soul soared.
Isn’t that what friends are for, even
When we may be miles apart?
The soul knows no distance
or boundary, ever.

Having an empath as a friend.
