Spiritual faith may be, in my reality, different than religious faith. Or maybe not. I ask you come at this article from your own belief system.
When you recommend to someone to “have faith”, it may bring the conversation to a screeching halt. The person may say, “What has G-d ever done for me?”, or, “How can you have faith in something or someone you can’t even see or quantify?”
Faith, according to Google: 1) complete trust or confidence in someone or something. 2) strong belief in G-d or in the doctrines of a religion based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
How, indeed? I personally cannot prove to someone that love exists. I can prove that wind exists if it’s a windy day. But then again, it’s not my job to prove anything to anyone. I can, however, provide a way to perhaps present a different view or perspective.
I’d ask, “Who do you trust?”
In the past, I’ve received a rather aggressive response from some, along the lines of, “I trust myself! No one or nothing else!”
Well, okay. I get it – especially from those who grew up in an environment where they learned they couldn’t trust anyone with any modicum of authority. Believe in and trust yourself. You’ll never let you down…right? Hmmm…that’s not quite right either.
Energetically speaking, we all hold grudges against ourselves as well, for “allowing” it to happen; for not being “strong enough to stand up against…”; for being “too trusting” or “gullible”, etc. But I digress, that’s another topic.
Higher Self
Whatever or however you refer to as the Source or Creator energy (the Divine Spark, the Light, etc.), we each came from the Source – so we carry a bit of the Source energy within us.
Then there’s the whole Higher Self part. The part of your energy that is not ensconced in this physical body; the part that knows the bigger picture for what you wanted to experience in this lifetime on Earth. The part that can see your life with a wider uninhibited view.
Yet, when someone tells me that they only trust themselves, they aren’t quite truthful. They may be thinking they only trust the physical human consciousness of self, but what of the rest of one’s self?
The Higher Self is not weighted down; embroiled in the yin/yang pull of duality; overwhelmed with other human’s emotional energy; participating in the manipulation games and/or scare tactics others use to control someone else.
The Higher Self is an objective part or aspect of you – an oversoul – the overseer part of you for this lifetime; the Keeper of your lost memories — while you’re in physical form — of the other side, this lifetime and other lifetimes you’ve had.
“I trust my gut feeling.”
Great! That is also called: intuition; clairvoyance; ESP; foreknowledge; hunch; instinct; foresight; vibes; sixth sense; perception; second sight, etc.
It is the energetic self paying attention to the energies, rather a change in the energies – and paying attention to your interpretation of those energetic changes.
Spiritual
Spiritual can mean relating to the religion or religious belief. But it can also mean: inner, incorporeal, otherworldly; psychic; intangible.
Spiritual aspect of self is the most true you; the one that is not conditioned by 3D existence and without programming, beliefs, and patterns of the physical realm. I know – that as humans – we all wear the facades, masks and armors that we each usually gather in reaction to our physical experiences. I see most people as their true self – their inner light.
It is the Higher Self – the spiritual aspect of you – that can be your best friend and steer you true.
Wait, there’s a catch, right?
Yep. One of the patterns that we’ve had programmed into us growing up is to ignore and distrust self; to trust those outside of us and who are in authoritative positions. Pfft.
So, that catch is to start listening to self and trusting your Higher Self.
The Higher Self – the spiritual self – has only love, compassion, and patience for the physical self experiencer. It will never lead you astray. It knows your soul plan for this lifetime and is more than happy to guide you on your journey. It doesn’t mean your life will be without learning opportunities, it just means you can trust you – it means trusting all of you – and it can be fulfilling and supportive even through your roughest patches on in your Earth experience.
You may enjoy having having spiritual faith. Perhaps it’s time to start working on trusting self.
